You all might remember a while back we did a couple giveaways from Fresh Baby. Well I have another one for you! They sell a baby food tray that allows you to make baby food and freeze it in small portions. It’s basically an ice cube tray with a lid on it. It’s plastic, but BPA free and dishwasher safe. Fresh Baby sells these on their website for $13.95 for 2 trays. They’ll also sell them in bulk at a discount to any WIC office that wants to give them out to help encourage moms to make homemade baby food.
I’m not sure if this is a product that would help encourage moms to make homemade baby food, or if it would just make it seem more complicated than it is. I remember the first baby food I ever made. I took an avocado, mushed it up, and put it in a zip-lock freezer bag. I squished the avocado mush out fairly flat in the bag and laid it in the freezer. When it was time for baby to eat, I just broke off a piece and let it thaw for my little one. I’ve also used those silicon cupcake liners to make baby food, and after the baby food froze, popped it out of the muffin mold into a large freezer bag. Simple.
I do think homemade baby food is better than the jarred stuff. It’s certainly cheaper (unless you’re a breastfeeding mom who’s getting over 90 jars of baby food a month free through WIC). I really don’t know how I feel about this product, though. I’m just not entirely sure it’s necessary.
Nevertheless, I have heard many people recommend using an ice cube tray when making baby food because it allows you to make up several batches, and then freeze the extra in perfect portion sizes. If you do this, then this product is a level above that because it has an airtight lid to go over the top to seal away odors and keep the baby food fresh. Pretty nice!
To enter the giveaway to receive this baby food tray, “like” Fresh Baby and WIC Woes on Facebook, then leave a comment below letting me know you’ve done this. If you’re already a fan of both pages on Facebook, just leave a comment to be entered.
For additional entries in the contest, tweet out a link to this giveaway daily. Each tweet will give you an additional entry into the giveaway! Make sure you add @wicwoes into the tweet so I can find it.
This giveaway will run for two weeks, until November 4. At that time I’ll use a random computer generator to determine the winner, and I’ll announce the winner in a post and contact them via Facebook and/or email.
So, why you think it’s worth it to make homemade baby food, and why do you think this product specifically would be helpful to you?
Full disclosure: I was given a sample of the product to test and base my review upon, but I was not compensated for this review or giveaway. All opinions are my own and I fully stand by them.
