WIC peer counselors are current or former WIC participants who were successful in breastfeeding and want to help other WIC moms be successful in breastfeeding as well. A few years ago, I was approached by our health department’s IBCLC about becoming a WIC peer counselor when she heard that I had breastfed my little girl past a year, and was also a former WIC client.
