Apparently a lot of people search Google for how to apply for WIC online. I’ve been involved with WIC for so long that the thought never crossed my mind. Can I apply for WIC online? I decided to do my own research on the topic to see if it was possible. Hate to break it to you, but you can’t.
It makes sense for the government to try to multi-task a little bit. While they have a person’s attention in front of a nurse or nutritionist in the WIC office, they usually try to make sure the family has the knowledge and ability to make healthy choices (although, many times, they don’t, like when they told me to stop breastfeeding, or gave me junk food recipes). continue reading »
My firstborn was still nursing when I got pregnant with our second child. I went to the WIC office for my appointment and let them know I was pregnant. The nutritionist asked if I was still nursing. I told her yes and she said I should stop because I was pregnant and breastfeeding could cause me to miscarry the baby. Fortunately, I was knowledgeable on the topic and knew this lady had no idea what she was talking about. I had a mean streak in me and decided to play along and ask some questions. continue reading »
